Invests in Ramona Optics

Founded by Caltech alumni Roarke Horstmeyer, PhD, and Mark Harfouche, PhD, Ramona addresses a long-standing challenge in microscopy: the tradeoff between field-of-view and resolution. Current microscopes can, at best, see a few square centimeters at a time, which fundamentally limits what researchers are able to see and how quickly they’re able to see it. By combining an array of miniature microscopes with structured illumination and deep learning software, Ramona has developed the first gigapixel microscope that captures cellular-level detail over hundreds of square centimeters. Through this new computational microscopy platform, Ramona aims to advance human health by equipping scientists with unprecedented speed, precision and insight.
